Our History
Barmera Medical Clinic is located on the Riverland Regional Health Service, Barmera Campus. This campus includes the Barmera District Hospital, Barmera Aged Care Facility and the Barmera Community Health Service.
Due to the location on the same site as the hospital our building was given a name by previous partners of The Lake Bonney Private Medical Centre, this was to differentiate the two allowing for easier identification of the Barmera Medical Clinic and the services that it provides.
This building itself is wing of the hospital which was previously used as a ward of the Barmera District Hospital. The building has had many changes over the years with updates to the consulting rooms, addition of the Flinders Wing and renovations to the administration and waiting areas.

About us
The Barmera Medical Clinic provides general practice consulting from rooms attached to the Barmera Hospital. We offer 24 hour emergency care to our inpatients through the Barmera Campus of the Riverland Regional Health Service.
We were the first Riverland general practice to achieve accreditation through AGPAL on 17 December 1999 and have maintained accreditation since. This is an ongoing process which requires a team effort from all of our staff and doctors.
As a RACGP accredited teaching practices in South Australia (since 1990), we have regularly been involved in the Rural Registrar Program. Each year, we welcome and train at least 2 Registrars and currently have 3. Since 1997 we have hosted Flinders University Rural Clinical School (FURCS) 3rd year PRCC students. At present we have 2 students from this program. We have also taken the opportunity to host medical students from the John Flynn program.
We value our reputation as a practice which has provided excellent ongoing medical education to numerous students and young Doctors over the years. We thank our patients for their ongoing assistance and cooperation in this important role. However, if you do not wish to have a student present during consultation, please advise the Doctor or staff.
We provide services to the surrounding townships of Cobdogla, Loveday, Moorook, Overland Corner and Kingston as well as other Riverland towns.
As part of Country Health Local Health Network, we are also committed to improving primary healthcare in the region.
