About us
The Barmera Medical Clinic provides general practice consulting from rooms attached to the Barmera Hospital and offers 24 hour emergency care through the Barmera & Berri Campus of the Riverland Regional Health Service.
We were the first Riverland general practice to achieve accreditation through AGPAL on 17 December 1999 and have maintained accreditation since. This is an ongoing process which requires a team effort from all of our staff and doctors.
As one of the longest serving RACGP accredited teaching practices in South Australia (since 1990), we have regularly been involved in the Rural Registrar Program. Each year, we welcome and train at least 2 Registrars and currently have 3. Since 1997 we have hosted Flinders Univesity Rural Clinical School (FURCS) 3rd year PRCC students. At present we have 2 students from this programme. We have also taken the opportunity to host medical students from the John Flynn programme as well as Flinders nursing students. We value our reputation as a practice which has provided excellent ongoing medical education to numerous students and young Doctors over the years. We thank our patients for their ongoing assistance and cooperation in this important role. However, if you do not wish to have a student present during consultation, please advise the Doctor or staff.
We provide services to the surrounding townships of Cobdogla, Loveday, Moorook, Overland Corner and Kingston as well as other Riverland towns. Our doctors also provide 24 hour emergency cover to the Barmera Hospital and the Barmera Aged Care facility.
As part of Country South SA Medicare Local (CSSAML) and RDGP, we are also committed to improving primary healthcare in the region through our involvement with projects such as immunisation, Astma and diabetes control programs.
